Swiss-born multi-media artist and activist Katja Loher addresses ecological urgencies, such as the plight of pollinators, abuses of technology, and the future of humanity, while simultaneously drawing attention to the intrinsic beauty of the life sustaining processes that support our planet.
Loher’s seamless fusion of technology with the organic reflects a world of magic. Her pieces are a collaborative effort incorporating dancers who take the forms of small creatures, performers who intertwine to form letters, words and questions, while local shamans practice divination and healing.
Loher’s work has appeared internationally in many solo and group exhibitions including: Bruce Museum, Greenwich, CT, USA; NBMAA, New Britain, CT, USA; TelFair Museum, Savannah, Georgia, USA; World Expo Museum, Shanghai, China; Figge Art Museum, Davenport, Iowa; MuBE, Museu Brasileiro da Escultura, São Paulo, Brazil; Venice Architecture Biennale, Venice, Italy; MAXXI Museum, Rome, Italy; United Nations Pavilion, Shanghai Expo, China; and the State Hermitage Museum, St. Peterburg, Russia.
